Kisumu County Referral Hospital (KCRH) is a level 5 hospital located in Kisumu City, along Angawa Avenue, opposite Kenyatta Sports Ground. Formerly known as the Kisumu District Hospital, the facility is said to have been first established in the year 1900 during the building of the Kenya – Uganda Railway, where it served as an army barrack for the colonial government. Apart from the outpatient services, it is the only public hospital in Kisumu County that provides inpatient facilities for the mentally ill. It has strong links with Maseno University, whose students use the facility for teaching and training.
